MULLET HALL TRAIL RIDING The Mullet Hall Equestrian Complex is located on Johns Island near Kiawah Island. This is a beautiful, 700 acre park dedicated to horse trail riding, horse shows and other horse events. It is managed by the Charleston Parks and requires a yearly pass plus proof of negative Coggins. We want to support this facility and we encourage everyone to try to get out there and go trail riding. Our club helped mark the 4 major trails. You cannot get lost at Mullet Hall! Here are some photos of club members enjoying a rest after a morning of riding the lovely trails at Mullet Hall.

Notice To All Trails Pass Holders: I hope everyone is doing good this spring and out enjoying the nice weather. I will be sending out a trails letter soon – so be looking for that in the mail. However, I have a couple of pretty urgent things that I would like to get out to as many people as possible before I get that letter sent out. One of them is that we are trying to get a t-shirt for Mullet Hall. We would like to come up with a catchy phrase or slogan that we might use on the shirt. If anyone has any ideas please e-mail them to me. If we choose your slogan, you will win a free trails pass. So get those creative minds working and send me anything you come up with. At this weekends show and the Saddle Club Trail Weekend in April, I will have a sign up sheet as well. The second issue is regarding weekends that we have show events. An issue has been brought up recently regarding who is liable and distractions to competitors. The people who put on events and shows have rented out that portion of the facility. There could always be a chance that something could happen between a show horse and a trail horse and then the question comes up about who is liable. There have also been a few problems where people have ridden out of the trails and onto the show side and disrupted some competitors. We are asking everyone who is only here to trail ride to please park in the trail area and keep your horses over there. The show managers are able to control their exhibitors about the rules; however, I need to get the word out to all trail riders about this adjustment in things. Certain shows even have rules against there being any horse that is not registered to show, being on the show grounds (that came up at the last show). I am not taking any rights away from the trail riders, besides the convenience of riding over to watch the show. You still have access to all the trails at all times that are not on the show grounds, which is the fifty acre field that the barns and rings are on. I hope everyone will still feel free to come over and watch the shows and events that are going on – just park and leave your horses in the trail head. When there is no event going on at the show area – still continue to ride that portion of the facility and use the rings. If we all work together and respect the different users, we can make Mullet Hall more user friendly for everyone. With the completion of the bathrooms and working on campsites, I also plan on trying to organize more weekends that will open it up for those who would like to camp to be able to do so. So be looking for more opportunities to come for overnights at Mullet Hall. If anyone has questions or concerns – please feel free to call and talk to me. The office number is 768-5867 and my e-mail is wjackson@ccprc.com. If everyone will just send me a brief e-mail so that I can get everyone’s e-mail addresses in my contact lists, I will try to start communicating more often through that means. Thank you for your cooperation in everything. Sincerely, Wendy Jackson, Mullet Hall Equestrian Center
